FAQ

Hey everyone!

As there are many questions inbetween the comments, we have opened up the section “FAQ”. Below you can post your question as a “comment”. We will answer it here.

1. For which version of FS is the Do228 being designed?

At the moment we are in a stage of developmenet, where we can still decide weather we will design a FS9 version or directly move on to FSX.

As André and I both are still using FS9, we will most likely first create the FS9 version and then update it to run under FSX.

2. Which versions of the aircraft are going to be included?

We are planning to include the -100, -202, -202(k), -212 and different modifications, such as the one the German Navy is flying.

We will first release the -2xx Versions, then later add the other ones.

3. Is it going to be payware or freeware?

As the amount of work and money we have invested in this project is already huge, it’s going be payware most propably.

However, we have not found a publisher yet.

4. When is it going to be released?

We can’t give you a release date yet, as it’s very hard to guess when everything will be finished. We are constantly working on the project, as you can see on this site.

5. How far it is developed?

So far the -2xx external models are 90% finished, same goes for the textures. There are still some details to be done, such as antennas, pitot tubes etc.

The modelling and texturing of the VC is about 50% done. We have not yet started to work on the virtual cabin.

Work on the panel graphics are almost finished. After that, we’ll move on to gauge and FDE coding.

The sounds have the least priority at the moment. However, we are in contact with a Do228 operator, who is going to help us here. Also, we already have a professional sound engineer, who is going edit and cut the recording for us. In the end, you will have a high-end soundset for the DO228!

6. Is the livery of […] going to be included?

We will include the liveries of all major DO228 operators. Right now, we already have 24 repaints done. If your beloved Do228 is not included in the release, just send us an email with a few photos of it, we’ll paint it for you.

7. Will there be a paintkit released with the software?

We have already created a very detailed and easy to use paintkit. Of course it will be available for download, once the package is released.

Well, It’s the time of the year that most people go on vacation it wouldn’t surprise me that they are on vacation at the moment (like most other developers).

  6. admin Says:

Guys, I’m sorry for the late reply. I have been busy applying to airlines in Germany (sponsored ATPL / MPL) in the last weeks. I passed all tests and will be a flight student soon. Looking very much forward to flying Cessnas and Pipers! :)

I’m trying to organize some flights on the Dornier, so we can record the sounds. But it’s a little bit difficult as we have pretty strict rules and a lot of bureaucracy in Germany.

However, work still goes on (thanks to André) but there’s just not really much new stuff to show at the moment. We will post some new panel and livery pictures soon, though.

  7. Fredrik Bachke Says:

I really hope it will be a freeware plane. Because I had for a ong time looking for a Dornier 228 with Air Caraibes paint. And now I find it! Fantastic!

  13. captmjk Says:

    Hi Guys,

I have been following this project for a while, and I am wondering if there has been any progress on it? I am a huge DO-228 fan and I have yet to see any DO-228 that even comes close to it. I think your aircraft will make a nice stablemate to the DHC-6 Twin Otter that I fly (Virtually)in the caribbean right now! I would love to write a review of it for Avsim when it is released. Keep up the good work on this project, as you guys really have somthing special going here!
